Valereson Da Silva (°1971, Pindamonhangaba, Brazil) makes installations and performances. 
By experimenting with lethal foods, edible traps and different spying techniques, Da Silva makes works that can be seen as self-portraits. Sometimes his work appears eccentric and unconventional, at other times, they seem typical by-products of American hollywoodian thinking, and marketing.
His installations demonstrate how life extends beyond its own subjective limits and often tells a story about the effects of global surveillance strategies in our society over the latter half of the twentieth century. It confronts us with the hidden chemistry we discover between us and the other, between our own ‘evil’ and ‘humane’ selves.
By parodying surveillance media by exaggerating certain formal aspects inherent to our present-dayparanoid society, his works references the resistance against the logic of the capitalist control system. They question the more profound meaning and the superficial aesthetic appearance of an image.
Valereson Da Silva currently lives and works in Mexico-City.
