Gender Blues explores the protocol of cities naming their streets after people of historical significance. About two centuries ago, municipalities began (re)naming new streets after famous citizens, national figures and, in some cases, people of international allure. At that time, women were generally excluded from the election process. More than 200 years later, the majority of our streets are still named after men. Gender Blues visualises the absence of women in public space in contemporary cities.
