Kunstroof @ M revisits Gloria.B, an installation by Various Artists presented at ALIAS, M Museum Leuven, within an exhibition devoted to fictional identities and the shifting conditions of authorship. Conceived as a constellation rather than a fixed body of works, Gloria.B brought together objects shaped by accumulation, erosion, borrowing, and repetition — practices in which authorship is distributed across time, movement, materials, and chance encounters.
During the exhibition, several works disappeared. Rather than being treated as an external incident, the theft was absorbed into the project’s internal logic. Loss, circulation, and disappearance — already present in the gestures of collection, wear, and transformation — became materially and narratively active. What remains is therefore not a reconstruction of the exhibition, but a set of traces: images, descriptions, and partial recoveries that register absence as form.
The publication operates as an extension of the installation, shifting from spatial experience to archival reflection. It documents objects that were already unstable — borrowed screws, worn cards, accumulated residues, transformed relics — and acknowledges that their disappearance completes rather than interrupts the work. In Gloria.B, meaning does not reside in preservation, but in circulation; not in completeness, but in what slips away.
What is presented here is thus a record of gestures rather than possessions, a narrative shaped as much by what vanished as by what endured. The exhibition persists not as a fixed memory, but as a porous structure — one in which authorship, ownership, and presence remain permanently unsettled.
